Import a Volkswagen Touareg from Germany

It depends on the engine — ISV is the biggest cost — and on what the same car costs in Portugal. Each Volkswagen Touareg on this page shows its own total and the saving, if any, against Portuguese adverts.

ISV depends on the version: engine size, CO₂ emissions (WLTP or NEDC), fuel and the car’s age. Electric versions are exempt and plug-in hybrids with at least 50 km of electric range may pay a reduced rate. Use the ISV calculator with the figures from the registration document or the COC.

German adverts list it as “Touareg”. We search the German marketplaces under that name and match each advert to comparable cars for sale in Portugal.

The German registration documents (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I and II), the invoice or purchase contract and ideally the Certificate of Conformity (COC). With them you file the customs declaration (DAV), pass the type-B inspection and register the car.
